Seeking funding to publish important book about Caledon Shipyard

Dundee Museum of Transport is working hard to secure funding to pay for the publication of Jack Reilly's incredibly detailed book "The Caledon Shipyard".

Our target is to raise £10,000 and we have just managed to secure a donation of £1,000. This, along with two £2,000 donations, now means we are half-way there.

This book is an incredibly detailed history of a very important part of Dundee's ship-building heritage and deserves to be read by as wide an audience as possible. See more images on the Scotland's Places website (external link).

If you or someone you know may be willing to make a donation towards the remaining £5,000 then please get in touch. All our details are on the contact page of our website.

Temporary premises update: May 2013

Work has been continuing on our temporary premises at Market Mews, Dundee. The front exhibition hall is now virtually complete and a number of vehicles and exhibits were on display for our most recent preview event.

A lot of work has been done on the second exhibition hall and office space. The walls have been cleaned, filled and painted and the floor has received a first coat of protective paint.

Most of our attention is currently focussing on the third unit (of four) which will primarily be used for vehicle storage and maintenance.

To view the latest photographs of our work please visit our current temporary premises page.

Volunteers required to work on Steam Road Roller

The Angus Council 1930 Fowler DNA Road Roller will be visiting our Market Mews temporary premises on Saturday 4 May 2013 on a low loader.

Our aim is to put her into steam for this coming rally season, so if anyone can spare a few hours on
Saturday morning your help would be very much appreciated. Many hands make light work, even if you just want to watch and cheer us on.
