Former Dundee Corporation bus AYJ379 returns home

Daimler CVD6 127 AYJ379, the oldest Corporation bus known to survive, entered service in 1951 and was withdrawn to the Museum Department in February 1973. Restored to an early post-war livery it became a familiar sight at Open Days held at the Dock Street bus depot from the 1970s and is now in the care of Dundee City Council. Stored outside for a considerable time the bus was moved to The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum Lathalmond in the late 1990s.

On Sunday 22 September 2013 the bus was brought back from Lathalmond to Dundee Museum of Transport. Discussions are on-going with Dundee City Council's Leisure & Culture group on how best to present this bus for display with the minimum of restoration.

More photographs can be seen on our Exhibits page.
